Two ways to live the Competition: on a student team, once in a lifetime — or as a volunteer, edition after edition.
Applications.
No application campaign is open at the moment. Openings are announced here and on the Competition’s channels.
Applications are filed on PictetTime, the Competition’s platform: resumable drafts, email resume links, PDF documents.
Teams.
Teams are three students from the same institution. Selection is on written application: an application form and written answers to selection questions. Every test of the Competition itself is then oral.
Participation carries a registration fee per team; the Universality Fund can support teams that could not otherwise afford to take part.
Volunteers.
The Competition runs on some forty volunteers per edition, all Competition alumni or IHL experts: judges, tutors (who accompany the teams), petits bras (logistics and document distribution) and the “kitchen” team, which writes the tests.
The CCJP covers volunteers’ lodging and meals for the duration of the edition.
Rules & resources.
The Competition Rules set the eligibility conditions, the phases and the teams’ commitments. The version in force is published with each application campaign, together with the documents to provide (CV, university attestation).
Frequently asked questions.
▸Who can take part?
Teams of three students from the same institution who have never taken part in the Competition. The precise conditions (age, derogations) are set by each edition’s Rules.
▸Do you have to be a law student?
Most participants study law, but the Competition values strategy, negotiation and role-play as much as legal technique.
▸In which language is the Competition held?
Each edition runs in French or in English; some years hold one edition in each language. An institution may enter one team per language.
▸What does it cost?
A registration fee per team, plus travel. Lodging and meals on site are included. The Universality Fund can help teams that need it.
